Schools
EMF or electromagnetic fields are present in our daily lives in many ways, and one of the most common sources of exposure to these radiations is WiFi. In schools, the presence of wireless networks can pose a potential health risk to children, as it exposes them to high levels of radiation for several hours a day. Studies have shown that long-term exposure to EMF can have harmful effects on health, including DNA damage, changes in cellular function, and an increased risk of cancer.
At EFEIA, we understand the importance of educating about this issue and providing the school community with a specific guide of actions that can be taken to reduce the risks of exposure to EMF at schools. Educating about alternative possibilities to reduce exposure to EMF in classrooms even without the complete removal of WiFi in the school, taking simple actions such as relocating transmitters to reduce Near-Field Exposure to hotspots, reducing the absorption of such radiation and knowing alternative engineering options that involve reprogramming hotspots and their pulses, reducing the density of transmitted power from the router, and implementing broad-spectrum passive filters for proper electromagnetic hygiene, or replacing WiFi Hotspot for wired internet without involving new severe Near-Field exposure sources to electric and magnetic fields from the current.
Additionally, it is important to educate children on how to have healthy habits when using cell phones and electronic devices (including screen brightness, artificial light, oxidative stress, and circadian disruption), how to reduce exposure to EMF through distance, the use of EMF-free headphones, charging cell phones outside of nighttime hours, placing the mobile phone at a sufficient distance to, at least, reduce Near-Field exposure when sleeping, and turning off devices when not in use. Other practices can also be adopted, such as turning off WiFi during nighttime hours when it is not needed and providing children with simple education on the potential effects and benefits of these changes on their health, disease prevention, and mental health problems.
Schools have a fundamental role in protecting children, and it is necessary to implement policies that promote the reduction of EMF exposure in the classroom. For example, time limits for the use of wireless devices can be established, and alternative methods that involve less exposure to EMF, such as nature-based learning or the use of paper-based learning materials, can be encouraged.
In summary, exposure to EMF in schools can represent a potential health risk for children, but concrete measures can be taken to reduce this risk. At EFEIA, we are committed to educating and providing the tools and resources necessary to protect the health of children and youths.
Letter Draft for School Authorities
Dear School Authorities,
We are writing to you from EFEIA, an organization committed to promoting the health and safety of children and youths from EMF exposure. As you may be aware, electromagnetic fields (EMF) are present in our daily lives in many ways, including through the use of wireless technologies such as WiFi. Studies have shown that long-term exposure to EMF can have harmful effects on health, including DNA damage, changes in cellular function, and an increased risk of cancer.
We believe that schools have a fundamental role in protecting the health of children, and we would like to propose a project focused on mitigating EMF exposure in your school. This project would involve educating the school community about the potential risks of EMF exposure and providing them with concrete actions that can be taken to reduce this exposure. These actions include relocating transmitters to reduce Near-Field Exposure to hotspots, reducing the absorption of such radiation and knowing alternative engineering options that involve reprogramming hotspots and their pulses, reducing the density of transmitted power from the router, and implementing broad-spectrum passive filters for proper electromagnetic hygiene, or replacing WiFi Hotspot for wired internet without involving new sources of severe Near-Field exposure to electric and magnetic fields from the current.
Additionally, the project would involve educating children on how to have healthy habits with cell phones and electronic devices, including how to reduce exposure to EMF through distance, the use of EMF-free headphones, charging cell phones outside of nighttime hours, placing the mobile phone at a sufficient distance to at least reduce Near-Field exposure when sleeping, and turning off devices when not in use. Other practices can also be adopted, such as turning off WiFi during nighttime hours when it is not needed and providing children with simple education on the potential effects and benefits of these changes on their health, disease prevention, and mental health problems.
We understand that implementing such a project may require some resources and time, but we believe that the health and safety of your students are worth the effort. We would be happy to work with you to develop and implement this project in your school and to provide you with the necessary resources and support.
Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to the opportunity to work with you to promote a healthier and safer school environment for your students.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
